|
|
Broadband Access: making use of optical transparency for user access
|
|
Organiser:
Josep Prat,
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona;
co-organized by the Virtual Department on Access of the IST ePhoton/ONe
Network-of-Excellence
|
The purpose of the Special session is to provide a forum for exchange of latest research and development results on access systems that use optics to provide true-broadband connections to fixed and mobile users. Different technologies like new TDM-PONs, WDM-PONs, Radio-over-Fibre, Free-Space-Optics and xDSL-over-fibre are being developed and competing in diverse scenarios. All scientists and engineers working in this broad area are invited to submit their research to the program of the special session. The program will include invited and contributed papers as well as poster presentations.
The suggested session topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Advanced G/E-PONs
- WDM-PON architectures and techniques
- Radio-over-fibre techniques
- VDSL-over-fibre techniques
- Free-Space-Optics (FSO)
- Hybrid access architectures
- Dynamic bandwidth allocation techniques in shared optical access
- Techno-economic bench-marking of access solutions
- Fault and performance monitoring in access
- Communication protection and robustness
- Deployment field trials
